The DIY Blogger House: Soon Open for Business

I am so excited to announce that the DIY Blogger House done with Daybreak Utah and Bangerter Homes for the Salt Lake City Parade of Homes is being debuted tonight at a VIP, invite only, party.  It will be open to the public beginning on August 3rd.

But LUCKY YOU!  I have been given special permission to give you a sneak-peak at some of the home’s most exciting spaces!

Early on in the project Char of Crap I’ve Made and I decided to team up on the 3 kids rooms. (all under the direction of Brian Clark, the project’s lead interior designer)

We had TONS of fun brain-storming and thinking about what we’d like to do.  But we ultimately decided on

  • A gender neutral nursery
  • A young boy’s room
  • A teenage girl room

The nursery has an AMAZING palette of lime green, citron, and turquoise.  I am IN LOVE with the art piece that we made for the wall above the crib.

In the upcoming days, Char will have tutorials on all her hard work in this room.  Including the bedding, pillows, nursery furniture, and art.

Our boy’s bedroom began with a swatch of Pac-Man like fabric.  We wanted to use it as inspiration for a room that evoked the feel of the awesome 80′s arcade game.  But didn’t scream, “THEME ROOM!!!”

By using the ideas behind the game, and pops of the inspiration fabric, we were able to come up with a fun room that would house a young dude, or a bigger one.

Watch LCMF and Crap I’ve Made for tutorials on the headboard, bedding, and overall decor of this fun room!

Our teenage girl’s room turned out to be my favorite part of the project.  We were able to work with the SLC chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation to honor one of their past wish recipients.  So our plans started to revolve around depicting a wish to go to New York and become a fashion model for a day.

With a rich palette of metallics, plum, black, and white….the room is both sophisticated and encouraging.  The touch of lime green used by our designer Brian, is actually the official color for the kind of cancer our inspiration young lady was battling.  Gratefully, she is now doing much better.

Stay tuned to see how we came up with the headboard, stunning metallic art, and wall treatments.

Every space in the house is amazing.  You can find inspiration for both DIY projects, and affordable interior designer ideas.  Super innovative finishes and colors.

You won’t want to miss these other amazing spaces from the rest of the team:

Each blogger will be giving in-depth details about her spaces.  And we will all continue to have more pictures, stories, and ideas from this amazing house.

I have had so much fun getting to collaborate with this superstar team.  And I’ve already mentioned….but MUST do so again….

All of these girls, particularly Char, and the Daybreak team have been so kind to let me continue working on the project even though my health hasn’t been good.  Char picked up WAY more than her fair share to make our ideas come to life.  She has been at my home late at night, all day long, and one time we even had a whole conversation that I don’t even remember.  (oopsie!)

If you are in the area, make sure to check out the amazing DIY Blogger house and all the other beautiful entries in the SLC Parade of Homes.  And if not…….NO WORRIES!  Looks like we’ll all be giving you a front row seat.  Yay!
